  • Whole chicken
  • Can of any soda pop
  • Thermomete
  • Spray bottle

Ingredients for for rub

  • 2 Tablespoon of seasoning salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1-tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard powder
  • 1 Teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 table spoons of lemon juice

Ingredients for mop sauce

  • ½ Cup of water
  • ½ tablespoon of salt
  • ¼ cup of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of hot sauce

BBQ sauce

  • 1 cup of ketch up
  • 1 cup of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • ½ cup of pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup of soy sauce
  • 1/2 stick of butter


  1. preparing the rub-First you will rinse the entire chicken and pat dry with a towel.
  2. Trim off excess skin and fat
  3. Mix all the rub ingredients into one bowl
  4. Apply the rub onto the entire chicken(including legs and wings)
  5. Wrap with plastic and put it into the fridge over night
  6. Pop the tab off the beer can. Using a church key style can opener, make a few more holes in the top of the can.
  7. Prepare your grill for indirect heat Set smoker to 250 degrees
  8. Put the can of pop into the butt of the chicken
  9. Sit the chicken up right onto the smoker
  10. Spray with mop sauce every hr
  11. Cook for 4 hrs
  12. Will be done at the temperature of 180
  13. Check the chicken at the meatiest part of the breast between the bones, looking for 167°F
  14. When done sat it into a pan with foil over it for an hour
  15. After waiting for an hour cut the chicken how ever you want to serve it
